Save Our Squirrels!

The Borough of Larne is one of the last remaining strongholds for red squirrels in Northern Ireland. Until recently, this area was largely free from grey squirrels - the red squirrel's arch enemy. 

To help the red squirrel survive the encroaching greys, Larne Borough Council is working with other local organisations to do our best to protect it. We need your help. Please record any time and place you see either a red or grey squirrel and pass this information on to us. By knowing their location, we can plan actions to help red squirrels survive.

Squirrel reporting cards can be posted out upon request from the Biodiversity Officer or downloaded from the Larne Borough Council website.
