Welcome

Welcome to the Northern Ireland Biodiversity website-your definitive source for information on issues affecting local biological diversity.

Local biodiversity is all around us, on our way to work and around our homes. It is an integral part of our lives.

Many areas have a local biodiversity action plan (LBAP). This is a commitment from local people and local organisations to the protection of our environment, biodiversity and nature conservation. LBAP's aim to protect biodiversity through local partnerships, taking into account both national and local priorities.

Many areas have a Local Biodiversity Officer to help achieve this commitment.

Select a council area to learn more about the LBAP's and how biodiversity affects you locally.
